Totally Cool: Inspiration Infomation and Innovation

Sometimes when you are in the middle of things you don’t realize what’s happening.   Thinking back to yesterday’s discussion with the AUTHORS of our text it suddenly occured to me how TOTALLY COOL the experience was.  I know that Sue has hung out with authors all the time but for me it was an unusual event.  It was made even more powerful by the ongoing chat with who knows who, and the ability to carry on a dialoge.   All this while both us and the authors were in places of comfort and ease (and it was free).  Technology rules. Thanks to Bud and Jerry for setting all this up.

It was cool to talk to authors. And what may be even cooler is that fact that it didn’t sink in until later how cool it was! I’ve come to expect such high-tech experiences from CyberCamp, with all of Bud’s tools, that it almost seemed like a common thing to day – and I guess (these days) it is!

I agree. I was thinking the same thing this morning and shared the experience with my husband. What an amazing world we live in. It is getting smaller and smaller.

It was incredible — makes you start thinking (or continue thinking) about all the ways to help students connect to some very cool happenings and people in the world.

    You guys are so right…

I need to find more authors who are willing to talk to our kids online for free or a nominal fee – especially if we buy multiple copies of their books. In these days of high cost airline travel, why bother paying for an in person author visit. I know Sue does have author visits at her school and I commend her; she’s great at raising the money and covering the costs of the visits – that’s just something I don’t do well. But, I would like to investigate this model and include other schools with an interest in talking to a particular author.

    Joanne
