Another good day at CyberCamp. This was a valuable day in that we discussed the first three chapters of the Boss & Krauss book, Reinventing Project-Based Learning. A few things come to mind: that there is a lot of learning going on at CyberCamp, there is a lot of learning to do, and maybe even more unlearning.
We are really looking at a paradigm shift here — in our own district. I can see, as a non-teacher, the tendrils starting to reach out and take hold. It will take time, patience, and a lot of modeling
.
Do take a quick look at Google Apps Education — it can really be a perfect infrastructure for project-based learning. I will try to present more of what it can do for students and teachers — opening up communications, collaboration possibilities, and handing over some creativity and responsibility keys to the students. Hopefully, Skyline will successfully implement Google Apps Education and serve as a model for the district. Whew! I just scared myself.

Yeah – no pressure, huh? I like what you said in your post about “unlearning.” Lots to unlearn.

I did take a look at the Google Apps Education link that you provided and watched a video about Google sites; or the creation of easy websites through Google apps.
This brought up questions and ideas for me. While I understand that Google sites isn’t ready to take over Dreamweaver as a web editor, I’m thinking that it might be beneficial to embed Google sites within a Dreamweaver site. This clearly is the way that web creation is heading……
I’m keenly interested in your project!

Unlearn, indeed. I’m unlearning some Blogger habits in my navigational adventures with EduBlogs. “LOG IN immediately” is my new mantra.
Thanks for the Google Apps link. I’m going to play with the Google sites today and think about possible uses.

Unlearning is a great skill for programmers. If you learn any Visual Basic programming you have a lot of unlearning to do when you move to a real programming language.

Thanks for the google apps link. I looked at it and I think I may have to investigate the google website application. One thought I’ve had about the class I’m teaching next year is about how students can present what they’ve learned and the website may be one option.
