In the beginning

After some reflection, O.K. with some definite help from Bud, I have decided to use the virtual campus for my project-based class called Research and Academic Skills.  At first I thought I’d use a Wiki, and I could have, but the Virtual Campus offers more privacy and since I want students to discuss their writing, they can do that all within the Virtual Campus.  You can look at the beginning of this class, Research and Academic Skills for the 21st Century Learner.  It is the class called Research.  I’m the 20th Century person trying to catch up.  I really wanted to use a Wiki too because I just like the word.

    Hi Michele,

I just checked out the beginning of your Moodle. I signed up as a participant and am excited to follow your progress!

    Michele,

Very nice looking start to what I assume will be a smash hit on the Virtual Campus. I agree with Bud and Jerry that using the Virtual Campus is an easy, clean, and logical place to load content for our students to access.

I also like the word wiki, and would like to recommend a book, Wikinomics, for those who also like the “word”.

Wikinomics is by Don Tapscott (Author), Anthony D. Williams (Author), http://www.amazon.com/Wikinomics-Mass-Collaboration-Changes-Everything/dp/1591841933/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212526485&sr=8-1

Great start to your class! I, too, am learning all the features of Virtual Campus — there’s a lot to learn. I think the ability to deliver class content directly to the student 24/7 is one more step in pushing the responsibility for learning closer to the students.
