What I did on my summer vacation at cyber camp — Day 1

I started creating my online government class using the stvrain moodle.   The hyper link came in handy as I added links to other resources and now people won’t puke on my page because I used the whole URL.  Each of the resources we are using have their own idiocyncracies that take some time to learn so that they will behave the way we want them to– not unlike our students — .  Having the semi-structured time to work on this is refreshing.  It reflects the ideas in the book we get to read tonight!   I did experience the usual set of techno-issues but have struggled through—sorry about the random post in the wrong place asking for help.   I would like to know how to set up my own blog homepage that has RSS feeds and links to all the stuff I use frequently.(blogs, ikeepbookmarks, courses, email, etc.)

I’m glad the pacing’s working for you – and I like your thinking about how tech tools are sometimes like our students – and vice versa. Well said. Here’s a link to an Edublogs tutorial that a colleague of mine made – might help you get started as a blogger.

The edublog tutorials are great. You also might want to try setting up a wiki, Wetpaint is user friendly and allows you to create posts, feeds and bookmarks sites as well. My personal favorite for all of your needs, feeds, searches, etc, I love Grazr,
You can check out mine below, as you can see I have bookmarks, searches, feeds, you name it. Have fun at camp!
    My Grazr
