Presentation

One goal I have for this class is to immerse myself in technology and I always feel if I don’t actively do something, I’ll never learn it.  So, here it goes!  Another goal I have for this class is to have my students use powerpoint for presentations, rather than the traditional essay.  I want to be able to teach my students to use some of the “bells and whistles” so that they can produce interesting powerpoint presentations.  I looked at two sites today, which were interesting introductions and got me thinking about presentations in general.  The first was called Death by Powerpoint  I think students should watch this first before starting a powerpoint presentation, because once you teach a child how to make something sparkle, they’ll make everything sparkle and before you know it their presentation is more about the powerpoint and less about what they learned.  The other site includes a video about a book On the Back of a Napkin and is about how presentations should appeal to visual learners.

I really enjoyed Death by PPT! I will definitely make it a teaching tool. Thanks.
